What is climate? Climate is “the composite or generally prevailing weather conditions of a region, as temperature, air pressure, humidity, precipitation, sunshine, cloudiness, and winds, throughout the year, averaged over a series of years.” Change is “to make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of something different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone.” When you put the two words together it makes Climate Change.
Climate Change is forever changing and has changed numerous times throughout history. “From glacial periods (or “ice ages”) where ice covered significant portions of the Earth to interglacial periods where ice retreated to the poles or melted entirely – the climate has continuously changed.” In todays world we face changes in the: atmosphere, temperature, precipitation and storms, sea levels, and ocean acidification.
We can help prevent the Earth from falling into such a devastating state by being more aware of our surroundings and start helping to create a safer environment. Stand up and fight for our world or it will soon deteriorate and eventually become uninhabitable. Be a hero for our planet.
